ThinkYoung : New Competition called EU Youth Design Jam

Helena Millet, on behalf of ThinkYoung, has contacted the APEEE to share her message, which you can find below, about the EU Youth Design Jam competition.

My name is Helena, and I am writing to you on behalf of ThinkYoung, a Brussels-based not for profit organisation that works to improve the lives of young people across Europe.

We wanted to announce that we have recently launched an exciting new competition for 15-18 year-olds in your country called the EU Youth Design Jam. You will find below the application handbook & flyer and there is lots more information available on the website.

After reviewing the applications, the best teams will be invited to attend the Design Jam in Brussels, Belgium, from 26 – 28 April.

We are organising the EU Youth Design Jam in collaboration with Meta, which regularly invites young people, parents, educators and other experts to “design jams” about internet use, online experiences, and digital skills (not sure what we mean? check out this video). Design jams are opportunities to come together and co-create through open conversations and collective thinking.

Teams selected to participate will:

  • Win a trip to Brussels–with their adult (ideally a teacher!) coach—to meet and exchange with peers from schools from across the European Union;
  • Brainstorm together ways to improve how apps and social media platforms communicate their terms and conditions to young people and explain to them how their data is used;
  • Talk to tech companies and policymakers in the European Parliament and Commission about what they need and want from their time online;

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask; my colleagues and I would be happy to support you!

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,

Helena MILLET – Project Assistant
