All parents received a message regarding the current forecast of price increase for the APEEE 2023-2024 school year. 

Please find below two sections, one concerning the EVERE canteen and one concerning the WOLUWE canteen

What are the service hours of the Canteen?

How to get to the refectory?

In Maternelle and Primary classes, pupils are taken to the refectory by their class teacher who stays with them during mealtime.

Is there a canteen access card?

No, the refectory is free to enter.

How are the students seated?

Pupils sit at tables per class group.

How are the students served?

For the youngest children, the teacher serves and takes care of the meal, from primary 3 onwards, the pupils are served at the buffet by the canteen staff and their teacher.

What does the meal consist of?

The meal consists of a soup, a protein (meat, fish, eggs, plant-based), vegetables, a starch and a dessert (fruit, yoghurt or exceptionally a dessert – Christmas, Chandeleur, etc).

Who sets the menu?

The menu is established by the Scolarest team in collaboration with a dietician.

Where can I find the monthly menu?

The monthly menu is published on the APEEE website org. It is also displayed in the refectory.

Where can I find information on allergens on the daily menu?

Allergens are indicated on the weekly menu.

My child has allergies, how can I notify the kitchen chef?

Yes, you will receive a form to fill in with our August email, to be sent back to us, from then on, your child’s food allergies will be listed so that they do not receive, during their meals, the food indicated on the form.

If your child’s allergies change during the year, please come back to us so that we can adapt the menu.

Where do the pupils who bring a packed lunch from home eat their lunch (“tartiniste pupils”)?

Pupils who bring their own lunch eat with their class group in the canteen.

Registration and invoicing

How do I register my child for the canteen?
  • A couple of days after your child is enrolled at the European School in Evere, the Scolarest team receives a list of enrolled pupils.
  • The Scolarest team sends an email with the necessary information for registration, payment and any dietary restrictions at the end of the month of August.
  • Rest assured, any child who comes to the canteen can eat there, even without prior registration.
  • Meals will only be charged if your child attends and eats in the canteen (for example, your child eats on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, their card will be scanned Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
  • If you do not want your child to eat at the canteen, you just have to provide them with a picnic lunch.
How do I create a Click4Food account?

The Scolarest team will send an explanatory email around August.

When do I have to pay?

An invoice is sent each term, three times a year by the Scolarest team.

How am I invoiced my child’s meals?

When your child is present and eating at the canteen, their card is scanned.

When should I register my child in the canteen to make sure that he / she will have a place in the refectory?

Each child has a seat at the class table.

Can I register my child 2 days a week?

Yes, any meal your child eats is invoiced by scanning you child’s card. Please note, their card can only be swiped once a day, therefore no possibility of double use is foreseen.

Is it possible to register during the year?

Yes, at anytime.

How much does a meal cost in the canteen?

Can I cancel the subscription during the trimester?

I am having payment difficulties, what help is available?

You can fund the Click4Food account at any time.

How can I pay by instalments?

Staggered payment is not available. However, parents can choose whether to fund their child’s account monthly or weekly. It is up to the parent to choose how to fund their child’s account. It is however asked that the account remains in the positive. Please note that the amount in the account must be paid back at the end of the current school year.

My child is ill, should I inform the canteen of his absence?

No.

Is there a reimbursement in the event of absence due to illness?

We only charge for meals eaten by your child, if your child is absent, his or her account will not be debited.

Excursion

My child is going on a field trip or a winter trip (“classe verte” or “classe de neige”) do I have to notify the canteen to be reimbursed?

For trips of more than one day, we do not provide picnics.

Who orders the picnic?

For day trips, the class teacher informs the canteen and orders the picnics.

What does the picnic consist of?

The picnic consists of bread, a filling (for Maternelles it is chosen by the teacher, for Primary children chosen by the child), a piece of fruit, raw vegetables or dairy products depending on the age, a little treat (madeleine, biscuit) and water.

How to get to the refectory?

In Nursery and Primary, students are taken to the refectory by their teacher who stays with them during lunchtime. In secondary, students go to the refectory on their own.

Is there a canteen access card?

There is no access card to the canteen. Our supervisors perform regular checks using a tablet to verify that only subscribed pupils are using the canteen.

How are the students seated?

The pupils are seated at tables by class.

How are the students served?

The canteen operates a table service system. Students may serve themselves from the dishes provided at each table. Save for dessert, there are no restrictions on quantities – if a student wants more, they can ask the serving staff.

What does the meal consist of?
  • A starter (soup or another starter as specified in the daily menu),
  • A main course consisting of meat or fish, a starch, and a vegetable,
  • A dessert (dairy product or fruit),
  • Water and bread available at the table,

Starter and main course are served on “all you can eat” basis.

Who sets the menu?

The menu is established by the Chef in collaboration with a dietician in accordance with the food pyramid. For more information, please visit our menu and overview page.

Where can I find the monthly menu?

The monthly menu is published on the APEEE website. It is also displayed in the refectory

Where can I find the daily menu?

The daily menu is available on the APEEE website. It is also displayed on the screens in the refectory.

Where can I find the photo of the daily menu?

The photo of the daily menu is published on the APEEE website.

Where can I find information on allergens on the daily menu?

Information about allergens and the canteen allergen policy can be found on our menu.

Allergens contained in our meals are indicated on the menu, which is published 2 weeks in advance on our website.

If for any reason, we need to change an ingredient in our menu at short notice, the information will be published on the APEEE website, on the screens of the refectory, and on the daily menu posters in the canteen area. There will also be a red warning poster at each canteen entrance to indicate that there is a change to the pre-published menu.

I am allergic, can I change my dessert?

Yes, in case of food allergy, it is always possible to change dessert. Ask the service person.

Where do the pupils who bring a packed lunch from home eat their lunch (“tartiniste pupils”)?

The school provides a special eating area for these students. Due to the shortage of space it is not possible for these students to eat in the canteen with their class above the level of M1. If you wish more information, thank you in advance for contacting the school secretariat.

Registration and invoicing

How do I register my child for the canteen?

Register via the website in your Secured Zone using the login given by the APEE secretariat secretariat.apeee@woluweparents.org

Do not forget to select the desired days.

The minimum is 3 days a week. For more information, please visit our pricing.

When should I register my child in the canteen to make sure that he / she will have a place in the refectory?

For new pupils, registrations are open as of June for the service to start in September. It is advisable to register as soon as possible in order to guarantee a place in the refectory. After the start of the school year, there may be no room left due to overcrowding.

For students already registered at the school, the registration is automatically renewed from the 3rd term to the new school year. For more information, please visit our registration-modification-cancellation page.

Can I register my child 2 days a week?

No, this is not possible as the minimum is 3 days per week. For more information, please visit our pricing page.

Is it possible to register during the year?

It is possible to register after the beginning of the school year in September, but we cannot guarantee the availability of places due to overcrowding. Please check with the canteen office before each school term the availability of places.

The office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

I made a subscription change request in my Secured Zone but I don’t see any change, why?

Don’t worry; it takes some time for the request to be processed. You will receive a confirmation email.

How much does a meal cost in the canteen?

Prices are indicative and subject to change. For more information on pricing, please visit our pricing.

When can I modify a subscription?

The subscription works according to school terms.

Registration is valid for the entire school year.

Changes can be made before the beginning of each school term.

Can I cancel the subscription during the trimester?

It is not possible to cancel during the trimester.

Exceptions: in the event of a health problem (submission of a medical certificate), leaving school, or if the class teacher requests a support course that takes place during the meal. In this case, the day can be deleted (with a minimum subscription of 3 days a week otherwise, the subscription shall be cancelled).

Can I add or remove a day during the trimester?

It is possible to add a day during the trimester.

I have a question regarding my invoice or invoicing in general, whom should I contact?

We will follow up with our finance manager. We usually respond within 24 to 48 hours.

When do I have to pay?

You don’t have to pay anything up front.

We send 3 invoices during the school year, around 15/10, 15/01, and 15/04.

Invoices must be paid upon receipt using the structured communication. For more information on billing and pricing, please visit our pricing page.

I am having payment difficulties, what help is available?

If you would like to spread the payment of your invoice, you can elect to pay by monthly instalments, see below for details.

If you are having payment difficulties, you can apply for financial support from the APEEE Social Fund. For more information, please visit the Mission and Statutes page.

You can apply for the Social Fund by completing the forms available on the Mission and Statutes page and sending them to secretariat.apeee@woluweparents.org

How can I pay by instalments?

My child is registered 3 days a week, does that change anything in terms of billing?

Yes, due to the fixed personnel and service costs, you will be entirely billed for 4 days minus the food cost for the 4th day. For more information, please visit our pricing page.

My child is ill, should I inform the canteen of his absence?

This is not necessary. If however your child is suffering from Covid, you should inform the school via : WOL-COVID19-NOTIFICATION@eursc.eu (for more information on the COVID protocols, please visit the COVID-19 page).

Is there a reimbursement in the event of absence due to illness?

There is no reimbursement for canteen meals which are not consumed.

However, if a pupil submits a medical certificate covering at least two consecutive weeks, we will reimburse the food cost. You will be asked to provide the medical certificate to the Canteen secretariat: cantine@woluweparents.org

The office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

We respond by e-mail generally within 24 hours except in the case of school holidays or at the start of the school year when we receive lots of e-mails.

My child is going on a field trip or a winter trip (“classe verte” or “classe de neige”) do I have to notify the canteen to be reimbursed?

No, when the children go on a winter trip or field trip, the food cost (1.95 € per meal) is automatically deducted from the amount of the quarterly bill. For more information, please visit our billing subsection on our pricing page.

My child is going on an excursion, do I have to inform the canteen to be reimbursed for the price of the hot meal?

No, when the child goes on an excursion, the hot meal is replaced by a picnic. For more information, please visit our billing subsection on our pricing page.

Who orders the picnic?

Picnics are ordered by the class teacher.

We check that the children are registered for the hot meal.

What does the picnic consist of?

In nursery and primary, the picnic consists of 2 milk rolls with cheese, ham and butter. A piece of fruit, a waffle, and a bottle of water.

In secondary school, the picnic consists of 3 milk rolls with cheese, ham and butter, a piece of fruit, a waffle, and a bottle of water.

Parents of children with allergies to, in particular but not limited to, gluten, wheat, eggs, lactose, milk protein, nuts and grains, soy shall plan the lunchbox for their children.

Occasional meal and fine

Is it possible to eat in the canteen occasionally?

It is possible to eat occasionally only on Wednesdays. To be able to do so, you must come and buy a meal ticket the same day at the canteen office. If the child is too young to come to the office, you can ask the class teacher to come and buy the ticket or you or come and buy the tickets yourself.

Payment can be made in cash or Bancontact.

The ticket is only valid for the day mentioned above.

Can I come to the refectory if I am not registered for the canteen?

No, pupils who are not registered to the canteen service are not allowed to enter. If you have a homemade meal, dedicated areas in the school are accessible.

I was checked in the dining hall without a valid registration or ticket, what do I risk?

€ 25 fine for the first offense.

€ 70 fine starting from the second offense.

Can I come and eat as a parent?

Parents are not allowed to enter the school until further notice.

📢 European Summit 2024

As announced in the national media, the European Summit will take place on the 17th April and 18th April 2024, which could cause major disruption to the capital’s road network.

The disruption is expected to start at 07:00 and could affect the APEEE school transport service. Due to this situation, we anticipate the risk of delays and/or cancellations to the usual routes. The transport service will keep the concerned parents informed in real time.

We understand that this may cause inconvenience and would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and patience in this exceptional circumstance. We will do our best to minimise disruption.
