As a new school year begins, the halls of EEB2 once again come alive with laughter, reunions, and new discoveries. Our school is a vibrant and unique community – a universe filled with students from many different backgrounds, cultures, and with diverse needs. And it is precisely this diversity that makes EEB2 so special. Despite our differences, we are all equal in our right to learn, play, and grow in a safe environment. Achieving this means looking out for one another and working together to make our school a truly inclusive and welcoming place for everyone.
With this in mind, we want to draw attention to an important topic: food allergies. For many children, this is not a minor issue – it is part of their daily reality. Even a trace amount of certain foods can cause a severe allergic reaction, which is why awareness and care from the entire community are so important.
The “Be a PAL®” (Protect A Life) campaign reminds us that we can all help by taking simple, thoughtful actions:
- Learn and talk about it: understanding which foods commonly trigger allergies (such as milk, eggs, nuts, or fish) can help prevent accidents.
- Avoid sharing food: even a small bite or sip might contain ingredients that are dangerous for a classmate.
- Alert an adult immediately: if your children notice someone showing signs of an allergic reaction (such as difficulty breathing, swelling, hives, dizziness or vomiting), teach them to get help right away.
- Show empathy and support: encourage children to be kind, inclusive, and considerate towards classmates with allergies – everyone deserves to learn and play safely.
By taking care of one another, we create a school that truly is for everyone – a place where every child feels safe, valued, and part of a community that grows stronger together.
Let’s work hand in hand to make our school an even safer, more inclusive, and compassionate environment for all our children.
Together, we can make a difference. Let’s be PAL’s – Let’s Protect A Life
